After 25 Years, Calix Still Leads With Purpose

Twenty-five years gives us plenty to remember and pay tribute to. Michael Weening and Carl Russo saw an industry disruption on the horizon. We knew that every broadband market would eventually have two or more high-speed providers, and our customers would need to differentiate their brand and business with something other than speed.

So, we focused our investment on building a platform, then mobilized our teams to prioritize innovations that help our customers differentiate in a competitive environment. Over the last eight years, we’ve sharpened our focus and equipped our team so we could become a true cloud, software, and solutions company—a journey that started in our product group over a decade ago. That’s how we became an innovator and industry leader.

But to me, our 25-year celebration is about much more than Calix. In fact, it celebrates what drew me to the company in the first place.

Though I’ve learned a lot in previous positions, I was always on the lookout for a particular kind of opportunity—working with an organization led by a purpose that went beyond making money. I found that organization and purpose in Calix.

Calix exists to transform society, one community at a time. And we’re clear on how we do that in our mission statement. We help our customers simplify their operations, innovate to delight their subscribers, and grow value for all their stakeholders, including the communities they serve. It’s an outcome made possible by the leadership of our customers.

It’s an honor to be a part of a company where customers don’t simply exist as entries in a database. To us, they are real people serving communities, whose residents, subscribers, and members—more real people—depend on them to learn, teach, work, sell, serve, protect, and save lives. And to have fun! That’s something we don’t just celebrate every 25 years—but get to celebrate every day.
